RIVER RUN PARK
NORTHPORT, ALABAMA
River Run Park reimagines Northport's waterfront as a place where recreation, nature, and community come together. Located along the Black Warrior River, the park is envisioned as a regional destination that celebrates the city's connection to the water while creating meaningful public spaces for everyday life. A network of trails, playgrounds, overlooks, event spaces, waterfront gathering areas, and expansive lawns invites residents and visitors to experience the river in new ways, encouraging exploration, recreation, and connection throughout the year.
Landscape architecture serves as the framework that ties the park together. Native planting, thoughtfully integrated public spaces, and a cohesive system of pedestrian connections create a seamless experience that feels rooted in the site's natural character. More than a collection of amenities, River Run Park is designed to become a defining civic destination—one that strengthens community identity, supports economic growth, and leaves a lasting impact on Northport for generations to come.
